Accomplishments

Since its founding in 2009, MVA has built a core of sponsors and sponsoring members, and begun building relationships with local and regional institutions across the city. We recently raised the funds to hire a full-time organizer.

One of the most important ways in which MVA builds leadership skills and links between potential member organizations is through our program of training. Metro Vancouver Alliance has already trained many hundreds of participants from more than 100 institutions in the principles and practices of community organizing in a series of leadership Institutes.

Recent and upcoming training events include:

  • 21-22 Sept – Transformational Leadership training, Seattle
  • Catholic Social Teaching training, Our Lady of Mercy Church, Burnaby 25-26 October
  • Alliance Building for Social Justice, Hospital Employees Union, Burnaby 6-12 November
  • North West IAF Regional training, Auburn, Washington 25 – 26 November
  • 2 day MVA leadership Institute, 27-28 November, 2011, Fairview Baptist Church, Vancouver
  • 2 day MVA leadership Institute, 7th and 14th February, Japanese United Church, Vancouver

We will be holding a number of leadership institutes in 2012. For details see Upcoming Events.
