Leaders
The Need for Leaders
One of the major goals of MACG is the development of strong leadership, formal and informal. Leaders are needed for collective action, to be able to make a difference in our communities and beyond. Leaders are required for institutional core teams, county clusters, research and action teams, table leaders and presenters at leadership institutes, research and action teams, administrative and executive teams, and assemblies. (MACG Structure)
MACG Approach
Development of leaders begins with a person's interest in MACG and participating in a 12 hour Leadership Institute. Over a thousand people have participated in a Leadership Institute since MACG was created in 2003. After learning the basics, people are given the opportunity to develop their skills by participation in the work of MACG whether within their own institution or on any one of MACG's current initiatives.
Formal Leadership
With experience and participation, leaders become eligible to be elected to one of the formal leadership roles providing oversight, advice, and direction to staff and other leaders.Currently serving elected leaders.
Organizing Team
The official body to oversee MACG direction is the Organizing Team, made up of up to two voting representatives from each member institution. These leaders meet quarterly to review and approve of activities, initiatives, direction, and by-laws of MACG.
