Health Student Gains Skills to Tackle Root Causes of Chronic Illnesses
Laurence Freitas, MPH MPP, a student at the National College of Natural Medicine, talks about the tools he has gained at MACG to help him tackle the upstream determinants of health:
"MACG gives me the tools to be a more effective leader in the NCNM community and the greater Portland Area. With the rise of chronic illnesses, health professionals must look outside the confines of clinics and hospitals if we are to get to the root causes of these illnesses.
Health professionals can align themselves to the needs of communities by working within the community to address the barriers to health. The organizing tools provided by MACG are essential for any person who wishes to improve the health and wellness of those in our communities and thereby creating lasting changes in our health care system."
