Time to Turnout! Health Care Reform Assembly - December 6

Time to Turnout!

On December 6, MACG is holding a Health Care Reform Assembly.   We need to turnout to show our power and assure that legislation that passed last year is implemented in a way that serves the needs of consumers and not the bottom line of health industry lobbyists.

Dr. Bruce Goldberg, head of the Oregon Health Authority, has agreed to attend.  We will call for Dr. Goldberg's commitment to support specific recommendations to the 2011 Legislature that align with MACG's goals of access, affordability, equity, and quality!

Please mark your calendars now and spread the word.   We have set a goal for 250 MACG members to attend.  This is the time to show our organized people power!

TURNOUT:

St. Andrew Catholic Church has sent some great strategies to generate effective turnout that may be helpful in planning your institution’s turnout strategy.  You and your core team can:

1) Place an announcement about the assembly in your institution’s bulletin / newsletter / email list in advance, to run multiple weeks, ideally.  Please see below for sample announcement.

2) Make verbal announcements 2 to 3 times at services / regular institutional meetings.  This is even stronger if coming from an institutional leader.  Hand out flyers at the same time for more comprehensive promotion. Please see below for sample announcement and click here for a flyer.

(*If you would like the MACG office to provide you printed copies of flyers, please contact office@macg.org or 503-235-6474 x 3)

3) Core team leaders (with clipboards/sign-up sheets) greet people at the doors as they exit service / meeting to invite them to sign up, with phone and email. Core team leaders forward sign up info to MACG office (office@macg.org) as it is gathered.

4) Core team leaders follow up with reminder emails and phone calls 2-3 days before assembly.
