Awards for Sustainable Jobs!
October, 2011
MACG’s Sustainable Jobs work has been earning awards and nominations this fall!
The first was the Clean Energy Works Oregon “High Road” award for “organizing amazing networking events with community groups, training providers, interested jobseekers, and contractors to fulfill their hiring needs and meet high road goals!”
These interview events took place in December 2010 and June 2011 and were a part of our sustainable jobs pipeline goals for underserved populations.
The second was a nomination for our Changing the Climate in Cully project by Rep. Jules Bailey for the Bus Project's “Irrationally Benevolent Wheelie Award”.
According to the Wheelie website, “This award recognizes the good people doing good things for no good reason. They organize their communities, push for legislation, and in general get the tough work of democracy done. And they do it without pulling in a paycheck.” Sounds like the hardworking leaders of MACG, right?
Unfortunately, MACG was beaten by the also deserving Outdoor School student leaders.
Bev Logan, of St. Andrew, attended the Wheelies on behalf of MACG and noted how inspiring it was that there were so many people and organizations doing great work for the world. Although we did not win, MACG is honored to be put in their company.
