140 at MACG City Hall Affordable Housing Action
On October 13, MACG turned out more than 140 people to City Hall to demand more funding for Affordable Housing to address the housing crisis in Portland by “Taking TIF to 50%” (#TakeTIFto50).
Attendees at the press conference / rally listened to speeches given by faith leaders and policy experts, and heard stories of MACG members affected by the crisis.
Many then stayed to observe a work session in which city council members debated increasing the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Set-aside policy from 30 to 50% - which could bring up to 91 million dollars as many as 850 affordable housing units to Portland.
Housing advocates and city officials continue to say that MACG’s work and continued presence at public hearings has made and continues to make ALL the difference in this campaign - a round of applause to all MACG leaders who have turned out and continued to support this important work!
