Welcome to MACG
We are an alliance of organizations in the Portland, Oregon Metro area building power for the common good. Read more about us here.
¡Hola!
5/8/18 - KATU 2 - Homelessness is a problem too big for any one person to solve. One group is leaving it up to faith. Pastor Craig Johnson is calling on churches to live out their values. He's the co-chair of the Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good Clackamas Housing Team and is a pastor at Christ Lutheran in Aurora.
Immigration laws and procedures are changing. We now have raids in smaller places more frequently and this administration is being more active in sanctuary cities like Portland. For that reason this Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 pm we will have a different kind of "Know Your Rights" workshop. For this session we will enact role plays with people who will represent immigration agents, so we can be sure that we are ready to know what to say and not to do in the unfortunate case of an encounter with ICE. Attend, participate, learn and prepare.
December 2017 -- In our end of the year MACG news round-up we sent last week, we forgot to mention one important win: Gov. Kate Brown signed SB 360 into law in July, which allows former prisoners to pay some court-related fees back through performing community service. Sen. Lew Frederick agreed to introduce the bill after hearing stories PHOENIX Rising Transition members told about post-prison financial burdens at the 2015 MACG listening campaign.
December 2017 -- The end of 2017 has been full of action for MACG and our work for the common good.
