Sound Alliance

Welcome! We, the Sound Alliance, are a diverse group of resourceful, passionate people from across the Puget Sound area – united through our religious, education, labor and community organizations – who are seeking the best of ourselves and our communities.

The Sound Alliance was founded in 2008 to create opportunities for people to grow, connect and act powerfully and creatively to bring about practical solutions to the challenges facing our families and communities.

Successful November Assembly on Homelessness Draws 275 Leaders. Next Actions: February 17 & 19!

February, 2015 -- In the first win for Sound Alliance homelessness work, 275 leaders and allies made a proposal to Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell to work together to develop a day shelter-hygiene center benefiting homeless people at an assembly on November 11, 2014 at member institution St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Mayor agreed to work with the Sound Alliance and to find more partners to make the project a reality.

Listening Campaigns Surfacing New Issues, New Leaders

January, 2015 -- Sound Alliance leaders are carrying out a series “house meetings” to surface new leaders, form stronger relationships, and better understand the pressures that are affecting our community. The campaigns will culminate in a Discernment Assembly on February 3 where Sound Alliance leaders will prioritize the issue areas that will engage the most new leaders and have the biggest positive impact on the community.

Homeless, others urge city to develop day shelter in Federal Way

11/14/14 -- Federal Way Mirror -- "Our goal was to encourage Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell to commit to work with the Alliance and its allies to find an appropriate site, secure capital funding and secure operation funding to develop a day shelter in Federal Way that provides showers, laundry, public space and a connection point with service providers," said Peter Hasegawa. "I believe a strong community showing at our event demonstrated support for this project."
