Welcome to the Sound Alliance!
Welcome! We, the Sound Alliance, are a diverse group of resourceful, passionate people from across the Puget Sound area – united through our religious, education, labor and community organizations – who are seeking the best of ourselves and our communities.
The Sound Alliance was founded in 2008 to create opportunities for people to grow, connect and act powerfully and creatively to bring about practical solutions to the challenges facing our families and communities.
October, 2015 -- In our training we teach that “power” is the ability to act. It’s the ability to get things done. There are two major ways to get big things done - with a lot of people or a lot of money - and in the Sound Alliance, our power is people power. One outstanding example of this theory in action comes from the Martin Luther King County Labor Council and local Building Trades unions who are member institutions of the Sound Alliance.
October, 2015 -- Sound Alliance leaders held two separate geographically-based assemblies last week to promote Best Starts for Kids, gain public recognition with decision makers, and start dreaming about where this campaign could lead the Alliance after the election.
Dave Mentz, University Unitarian Church, talks about the new leadership he has taken on during the Best Starts for Kids Campaign.
September, 2015 -- Sound Alliance leaders are well on their way to the goal they set last Spring of briefing 4000 people about the Best Starts for Kids levy, which is on the ballot for this November. This summer, 65 leaders from various Sound Alliance member institutions got trained to lead 15 – 30 minute briefing sessions explaining the benefits of Best Starts for Kids to others in their organizations and community. Even though briefings just started, 650 people have already attended!
