MACG Letter to Health Policy Board re: Governance of Community Care Organizations
February 2012. The MACG Health Care Action Team sent this letter to the Oregon Health Policy Board stating its position on the composition of governing boards of Coordinated Care Organizations in Oregon.
Organizing Money: Friends of MACG Doubles Donations!
January, 2012. The 2011-2012 Friends of MACG campaign has successfully organized $10,390 in donations since July, 2011. That’s twice as much as previous years’ averages of $5000!
“Who on this policy board is without insurance?”

The following comment was sent by Muriel Wentzien, an uninsured member of Leaven Project / Redeemer Lutheran to the Oregon Health Policy Board after MACG’s December Health Care Reform Assembly. Clackamas Leaders raise $40,000 for Domestic Violence Survivor Houses!
January, 2012. Clackamas County Leaders Aimee Bruno, King of Kings Lutheran, and Cecil Denney, Lake Oswego UMC, have written two successful grants in support of MACG’s Domestic Violence Survivor House campaign. With such stable funding in place, now all that is left to do to complete the three home pilot project is to secure and open a final house in Multnomah County.
Prison/Community Team Focuses on Minimum Sentencing, Housing, and Work Crews
January, 2012. Representatives of six MACG institutions have been meeting for nine months, talking about the issues of criminal justice that impact people in prison and in the community. The Prison / Community Action Team has narrowed their scope to three areas of focus. Read more here.

Metro Organizing Team Decides MACG's 2012 Direction
January 2012. On December 1, 2011, MACG’s governing board – the Metro Organizing Team – met to discuss MACG’s direction for 2012. The Team decided to authorize four new action teams to add to the three already in place.

Clackamas Leaders Plan Listening Campaign, Furnish House
October, 2011. Clackamas County Leaders have determined to schedule a Listening Campaign next year around the time of Lent which begins February 22 and ends on Easter, April 8. The Operating Engineers Local 701 will plan their Listening Season to best suit their scheduled activities.

Single Mom Thankful for Energy Efficiency Outreach Project
July, 2011. Alma Velazquez is a single mom making a modest income as a school teacher. Before MACG’s Changing the Climate in Cully campaign, Alma knew she had no insulation in her house, and half of the heat was being wasted, blowing out the walls. What’s worse, she and her young daughter experienced headaches when their 30 year old furnace was running.
