Best Starts for Kids Campaign Launches - Train the Briefer Sessions Set
If passed this November, the Best Starts for Kids levy would fund programs to help ensure that every child in King County has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential in life. Healthier children become healthier adults, benefiting our whole community.
The Best Starts for Kids campaign was developed as the result of extensive listening to Sound Alliance members in the winter of 2015. Problems surfaced in areas such as education, mental health, funding essential services, homelessness, and health care.
Sound Alliance leaders' research showed that passing the Best Starts for Kids levy would work to address the root causes of many of these issues (see videos of some of this research here).
In the May Action Assembly, member institutions committed to briefing over 4,000 people before October about Best Starts for Kids.
Now the campaign calendar has been set for the summer and fall. Events planned include over fifteen Train the Briefer sessions (more on this below), a Civic Academy in July, and two Action Assemblies in October.
Check out the Sound Alliance calendar and save the dates of the events you would like to attend!
Be a Briefer!
In order to brief the 4000 people we want to reach, strengthen our institutions, and spread the word about Best Starts for Kids, we need people who will lead 30-minute briefings.
We have 90-minute “Train the Briefer” training sessions to prepare Briefing Leaders. All are welcome to attend a Train the Briefer session. You will leave with new leadership skills and be prepared to facilitate a 30-minute briefing with a partner!
