Local Assemblies Move Agendas Forward, Oct 15 Statewide Assembly Cancelled
The Spokane and Sound Alliance recently hosted several successful local assemblies with legislative candidates to move our statewide All In For Washington campaign forward. We met with:
- 3rd Legislative District: Rep. Marcus Riccelli, Mr. Randy McGlenn, Rep. Timm Ormsby, Ms. Laura Carder, Senator Andy Billig and Mr. James Apker
- 6th Legislative District: Ms. Lynette Vehrs, Ms. Shar Lichty
- 46th Legislative District: Rep. Jessyn Farrell, Rep Gerry Pollet & Sen. Dave Frockt
We were also able to move other local issues in these assemblies as well:
Spokane Alliance gained commitments from all of the Spokane County Commissioner Candidates to work with us and support a local Jail Diversion facility.
The Sound Alliance engaged Kent School District Directors about improving career prospects for students not attending college, improving access for immigrant families, and improving teacher retention. They also rallied community support for a campaign to increase Physical Education time in Seattle schools to meet the 100 minute per week state standard.
As our next collective assembly and community conversation we hoped to meet with our candidates for Governor on Oct. 15. Neither candidate could confirm attendance, so the Oct. 15 assembly is cancelled. Instead we are working to schedule a post-election assembly with the elected governor to establish an All in For Washington partnership.
