Our Staff
Carol Krawcyzk , Lead Organizer, is originally from Wisconsin and has been living in Baltimore Maryland for the past ten years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in General Fine Art and a Masters Degree in Community Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She taught art with multiple non-profits in the city for six years and has been an organizer with the IAF (Industrial Areas Foundation) in Baltimore with B.U.I.L.D. and The Child First Authority for the past five years. Carol became the Lead Organizer for Spokane Alliance in November of 2011.
In Baltimore she worked on many local, city and state issues, such as:
- Built, lead and developed the first city-wide Child First leadership team;
- Was the Lead Organizer for the School State Funding Campaign in the Maryland General Assembly in 2011 and successfully restored $15 million in state funding for Baltimore Schools and also received a $9 million increase to school construction funding;
- Recruited, engaged and developed new and returning leaders;
- Created/built teams and maintained local actions in all of the organizations she was working with by acting on issues such as: neighborhood safety, lack of recreation, healthier foods, public housing quality and parent/teacher relations;
- Led Child First School Facilities Campaign which brought $2.6 million to Child First schools in facilities repairs.
She enjoys traveling, backpacking, biking and swimming and reading by the fire. She is looking forward to buying her first pair of skis and exploring the Northwest.
Cindy Merrick , Office Manager, joined the Alliance in April, 2005. She is in charge of all administrative duties, meeting/event planning and bookkeeping. Cindy graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Business Management and has experience working with non-profit organizations. She had been a stay-at-home mom for 11 years and has enjoyed getting back to work for such a great cause. She has four children and she and her husband enjoy working around their home and going to the lake with their kids in the summer.
