For the first time ever, the Washington State Budget & Policy Center, a Spokane Alliance statewide partner, will host a Budget Matters Policy Summit in eastern Washington!
Our two organizations are working together in coalition with others on the All in for Washington campaign to address our upside down tax code. This is a great opportunity to learn more about state, national and local pressures and become more engaged in addressing them. Join us!!
Featuring Jared Bernstein,
senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
About the Event
Eastern Washington is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. But far too many people in this community are just one accident or mishap from financial catastrophe. Yet policymakers in Washington D.C. are proposing deep cuts to federal programs that support the regional economy and help our neighbors have food on the table and a roof over their heads.
Our regional economy is stronger when everyone can share in economic growth. We need to come together to protect Washington state from policies that would leave us under-resourced as we seek to ensure prosperity in our region.
At the 2017 Budget Matters Policy Summit in Spokane, you’ll hear from Jared Bernstein about how our state can implement strong fiscal and social policies to grow the economy and generate shared prosperity.
You will also hear from a panel of local leaders about the impact of federal and state policy decisions on Eastern Washington's communities. More details coming soon about the plenary panel.
Date: Tuesday, October 31
Location: Gonzaga University Hemmingson Center; Spokane
