Listening Season Approaching: Training 4/18

April, 2017 - What is important to your family and community right now? What pressures are affecting your life and the lives of people around you? The Spokane Alliance is at the point in our organizing cycle where it is time to listen. We want to hear what is important to our members so we can decide what is most urgent to act on together. We will be kicking off our listening season with a training on 4/18, 5:30 – 7:30 PM, at Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

April, 2017

What is important to your family and community right now?  What pressures are affecting your life and the lives of people around you?

The Spokane Alliance is at the point in our organizing cycle where it is time to listen. We want to hear what is important to our members so we can decide what is most urgent to act on together.

We will be kicking off our listening season with a training on 4/18, 5:30 – 7:30 PM, at Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Listening seasons are an opportunity to discover the challenges and pressures facing members of your organization, as well as hearing the hopes and dreams they have for their families and the community.

We’ll discover people’s passions and energy to act, surfacing new leaders and helping engage them in advancing the mission of your organization.

The listening will also inform Spokane Alliance’s issue priorities for the year ahead and the larger work of building a better Spokane for all.

Please join us on 4/18 so you can learn the skill and approach to this process of energizing new leaders in your institutions and listening to what your community really wants!

Listening Season Kickoff / Training
Tuesday, April 18, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Liberty Park United Methodist Church
1526 E 11th Ave, Spokane

Food is available with RSVP to Carol@spokanealliance.org

Mark your Calendar: Discernment / Issue Prioritization Assembly and Annual Meeting

The listening season will culminate with a Discernment / Issue Prioritization Assembly (as well as our Annual Meeting) on June 12.

We will look at everything that surfaced during the listening process, prioritize the problems we want to act on together, and launch Research-Action Teams to begin the work of developing concrete campaign plans.

Discernment / Issue Prioritization Assembly
Monday, June 12, 5:30 – 8:00 PM
location TBA

New Team Name, More Dates

Leaders have voted to change the name of the General Leaders Meeting to the Delegates Assembly.

At Delegates Assemblies, representatives from each member institution gather in order to guide the work of the Spokane Alliance in alignment with our membership.

This team meets four times per year on the 2nd Thursday of March, June (Annual Meeting), September and December.  All meetings will be 5:30-7:30 and take place at Liberty Park UMC, 1526 East 11th Avenue, Spokane unless otherwise noted.

This June is an exception, as mentioned above.

Mark your calendar so as not to miss these important meetings!

And, don’t forget:

The All In for Washington Research Action Team meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month, 5:00 - 6:30 PM at Liberty Park UMC, 1526 East 11th Avenue, Spokane.  The next meeting is April 19th.
