URGENT: Tell your legislators to avoid a government shutdown by passing a budget that funds great schools.
On July 1st, our state government could shutdown.
A second special session began May 23rd and lawmakers have until June 30th to pass a budget. If budget negotiations break down again, government agencies, schools, parks, libraries and other important public services will close. It doesn’t have to be this way if we make our voices heard.
As part of our All in for Washington campaign, now is the time to call your legislators and demand they pass a budget that closes wasteful tax breaks, fully funds great schools and teachers, and maintains public investments in essential services that support children and families. House Bill 2186, the House revenue proposal, accomplishes this and asks the wealthiest in our state to pay their share – by closing the tax break on capital gains.
Washington’s upside-down tax code is the root cause of our state’s consistent failure to amply fund our public schools. We ask Washingtonians with the least to pay the most, while those at the very top get a special deal. The people of Washington deserve real solutions that reform our upside-down tax code and raise the resources needed to fully fund our public schools.
Act now: Tell your legislators to close wasteful tax breaks and clean up Washington’s upside-down tax code so we can provide every student a world-class education.

My name is ______ and I live in ______________.
I want to see our state lead the nation in great schools. It’s time to clean up the tax code to make sure we build a strong foundation for Washington. The House budget proposal, HB 2186, is a good step in the right direction. Please support closing the wasteful tax breaks to pay for great schools for all Washingtonians.
