Welcome to Spokane Alliance!
Spokane Alliance is a group of nonpartisan, proactive, everyday citizens dedicated to making Spokane a better place for all to live and thrive. You’ll find us working for change in churches and classrooms, in living rooms and union halls, in City Hall and in Olympia.
For more than 10 years, Spokane Alliance has worked to improve public transportation, increase job opportunities and green building requirements among other issues. We are a non-profit supported by the dues of our member organizations, individuals and foundations. We are affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation, a coalition of like-minded organizations in cities across the United States, the UK, Germany, Canada and Australia.
At Spokane Alliance, we believe that by working together we have the power to change our communities for the better. We do more than just sign petitions and protest. We take action.
June 2017 -- The Spokane Alliance had a successful Discernment Assembly on June 12th, with just under 60 people in attendance from a large number of our member organizations. Over the past three months, Spokane Alliance leaders had about 475 intentional conversations (mostly house meetings and individual meetings) within our membership.
The clock is ticking on the first-ever government shutdown in Washington state history. If our state legislature doesn’t pass a budget by June 30, parks would close for the Fourth of July, the parents of 52,000 children would lose child care support, and food banks that support thousands of hungry families would lose state food and funding.
URGENT: Tell your legislators to avoid a government shutdown by passing a budget that funds great schools.
June, 2017 -- On July 1st, our state government could shutdown. A second special session began May 23rd and lawmakers have until June 30th to pass a budget. If budget negotiations break down again, government agencies, schools, parks, libraries and other important public services will close. It doesn’t have to be this way if we make our voices heard. Now is the time to call your legislators and demand they pass a budget that closes wasteful tax breaks, fully funds great schools and teachers, and maintains public investments in essential services that support children and families.
April, 2017 -- Good news - the House Democrats' budget was just released and includes many of the proposals that our All In For Washington campaign supports! To support the steps the House Democrats' budget will take towards cleaning up our tax code and creating thriving communities, we now need letters to the editor and phone calls/emails to legislators. This is where YOU come in!
